Growing in Small Spaces

A balcony, a windowsill, a few square feet of patio — that's enough to grow something worth eating or looking at, if you make the right calls about light, containers, and water. gardenbalcony.com is built for exactly that constraint: real harvests and healthy plants in spaces most gardening advice ignores.

A note on where our guidance comes from: this is a curation site, not a test garden we photograph every season. We pull from horticultural references and extension-service guidance (USDA hardiness data, university extension publications), plant and substrate manufacturer information, and the shared experience of balcony and container-gardening communities. When we cite a hardiness zone, a watering interval, or a light requirement, it traces back to those sources rather than a private plot of our own.

Plants, climates, and balconies differ, so use our recommendations as a tested starting point and adjust to what your space actually does. For anything you intend to eat, confirm a plant's edibility and safety with an authoritative source first.
